1978 Canadian MilSub Ref. 9401/0
The Tudor story is one of a quiet younger sibling that grew into a rock star to rival all other pretenders to the throne of ‘coolest watch’. Conceived by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf in 1926, Tudor was originally launched as an accessible way to own a Rolex quality timepiece at a more affordable price point. The watches were effectively Rolex pieces in many ways, sharing the same cases, bezels, crowns and crystals as their coroneted cousins. But quickly the brand developed its own unique identity that was both daring yet reliable; flamboyant yet sophisticated and the stealthy choice of the knowing watch collector. Now firmly out of the shadow of Rolex, vintage Tudor is now a serous proposition for watch connoisseurs and collectors of timelessly cool wristwatches.

The Tudor MilSub
A rare and interesting Mlitary Submariner issued to the Canadian Navy.
Marked For Service
The rough ‘field’ engraving, its style and placement on the caseback would indicate that these markings enabled the Stores Master to keep track of the watches he was issuing.
Black Bay Ancestor
These 9401/0 watches in this configuration are actually the same layout as the Tudor Heritage Black Bay watches.
Special Serial Batches
We know that Tudor reserved batches of watches for Department of Defence orders. These batches become apparent overtime as serial numbers of well-provenanced examples are collated and we form an understanding of ‘correct’ serial numbers for certain issued references.
